I am trying to come to Thailand from the USA in January with my Thai wife, my 20 year old daughter, and my American mother.

My mother is 82 years old and I am hearing it may be impossible to get health insurance for her. Is there a way around the requirement she have health insurance for the retirement visa.

Could we do a living with Thai family visa? Would that receive the requirement? Is there a good around through an agent?

Thanks for your help as I am concerned we may have to abandon the whole thing.

Due to an unforeseen event in my life, I have ramped up my move Thailand from next year Jan to April this year (8 weeks). I’m pretty happy about this, but snowed under getting stuff done in 8 weeks I was planning to get to over 10 months.

I’m at a loss what to do with medical insurance. I’m in the USA, a USA citizen and planning to come to Thailand on a 3 month Non immigrant O, tie up some loose ends there and then switch to a retirement visa in a few months. I’m at a loss what to do regarding health insurance. I’m losing my health insurance on March 1 in the US. I was wondering if I sign up for something like a Cigna Global/International Health insurance would suffice?

I’m not looking for my best option, simply for an option that would work and give me time to do some research. I’m a little lost at the moment.

Advice appreciated.

The UK FCDO yesterday updated their advice on travel to Thailand to; against all but essential travel to the whole of Thailand. (Formerly, they'd advised only against travel to the 3 southern districts). This would invalidate most if not all insurance policies. But a valid insurance to include the covid element is a prerequisite to obtaining a CoE as I understand it. Does this not, therefore bring to a halt any travel to Thailand from the UK? Somebody please tell me I am wrong or that there is a way around this.

About to book insurance! Thai general insurance association quotes 12150 baht. Luma and axa are far dearer for 6 months. Why do I see members booking Luma and axa? Is there a reason for this?
