If you check the Thai government website for visa's. Unless they've changed again it's 3 months before your vias application and 3 months after.

What are the current requirements for the retirement visa in Thailand regarding bank deposits?

It's THB800,000 OR THB65,000 per month. However, you have to show that the money goes in every month for 12 months to qualify. If you elect to put the THB800,000 into your account, it must stay there for 3 months prior to the application and 3 months after the application.

I'm not sure about what you said. That is not how I understand it. To keep your visa, you must have THB800,000 in your account 3 months before and 3 months after which means for an annual visa renewal that money stays in your account. I'd be interested in any update on this as it affects me as well.
