Have you seen anything in writing from the bank about this policy? My Google box is not showing anything from the bank, only secondary sources and posts from people with frozen funds.

An ED visa works for most any educational program. If a college is offering a Chinese language course then you should be able to get an ED visa.

A business that is getting ED visas for people with a language course on the side, might not offer Chinese.

If your bank account is already set up, send the money now. Also, apply for a Non-O while abroad.

I use a US government direct deposit into Bangkok Bank. The code change a few months ago from “foreign T/T” to “PROMPTPAY”.

My visa paperwork is not due for a few more months. Hopefully, immigration has it figured out by then.

I’m one of those idiots. Bangkok bank would be the first place to require it.
