Important to note though Bangkok is a sandbox zone as of dec 1 , so in the worst case scenario , if the sandbox zones still stay the same , there shouldn’t be too much difference , unless of course u wanted to travel to multiple provinces .
Atte if those 0.22% of travelers were let out into the streets they would spread the virus. Not sure what the percentage has to do with the effectiveness of the program. Thailand has been trending down in daily covid numbers for over a month.
the problem is not the virus , there is and has been more than 3000 cases a day for some time in Thailand . It’s speculation about the omicron variant , which is more transmissible but less severe then delta.
nothing wrong with sandbox but the problem is all the people having test and go packages booked in Bangkok or pattaya , along with flights into Bangkok. So u less Bangkok or pattaya get a sand box , switching to it is not that equivalent to test and go at all.
There must be ulterior motives at play here . They could require more tests or do contact tracing like Singapore did, but going right to cancelling quarantine exempt is questionable
To be fair though the covid cases in those countries are ticking way up , in Thailand they have been trending down for over a month. If Thailand were to cancel test and go before Singapore does I would be shocked .
Something to keep in mind though is the requirement to enter Thailand is stricter than European countries . In Thailand you need to be vaccinated , have a negative test before hand , and a negative test on arrival before you are allowed out. That catches a lot more people from coming in with covid than just requiring a vaccine or vaccine and test before flight like European countries do. My guess would be they would only take off Britain from test and go if they saw significant numbers of British nationals testing positive on arrival. But no way to know for sure.
