I think it’s simply a case of government getting used to having more immense powers and not seeing the effects of using them. It’s like here in New York the governor banned elective surgeries at hospitals the day omicron was discovered despite no evidence omicron would lead to more hospitalizations.
Flying Friday as well , but if it follows what they did months ago when setting the 10 day quarantine back to 14 , the change takes effect several days later at least.
Interesting , seems no change till Friday at least , and mention of intensified screenings . Seems somewhat more bright than just a complete cancellation
Many months ago when Thailand increased quarantine back to 14 days from 10 for vaccinated travelers , I believe it was 7 days out it actually took effect. But no guarantee that will be followed now
It is only suggestion so far and Prayut has not officially commented on it himself . My guess is if it was implemented there would be a target date and not an immediate change , as people about to fly or in flight would not have quarantines booked. Also unclear what happens to Bangkok if the revert is just to sandbox.
Very hard to say. Not clear why they haven’t suggested just more testing or contact tracing like Singapore has (who’s generally more strict about covid than Thailand)
