Is it true that in Thailand's Sandbox model, if one passenger tests positive for COVID-19, the entire flight is quarantined?

Question: I heard that in the sandbox model, due to one passenger testing positive for covid-19, they quarantined the other remaining passengers on that flight. Can anyone confirm if it's true, and is this the actual policy (you still get quarantined if you test positive? ) Kind of defeats the purpose of setting up a bubble of vaccinated people if you still quarantine for positive tests ...

TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand's Sandbox model, if one traveler in a group tests positive for COVID-19, it is indeed possible for the entire group to be quarantined, but not necessarily the whole flight. Instances were reported where a travel group was quarantined together, while individuals traveling solo may not be affected in the same way. Opinions in the community highlight the inconsistency of these policies and their implications for vaccinated travelers, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the Sandbox model.

1 passenger was from Germany and not with the group, however if you are 2 rows any directionfrom someone infected you go to quarantine.. Supposedly there are only 3 ASQ left available in Phuket and they are

baht per person... The young lady that was not with the group wrote nice article for Richard Barrow 's Facebook page..

I hate to say it but they're not really open yet you can't really go they have the exact same stuff that they had a month ago if you go to Bangkok or wherever they need to open the country. Next month or something and stop all this b******* God bless everybody

, unfortunately that is how all of Thailand is. Everything is uncertain all of the time. Get used to it.

From what I understood, the group he was traveling with was quarantined, not the whole flight.

That makes more sense , the way it was worded it seemed like what Cambodia did in the early days of the pandemic , where the entire flight is quarantined .

In the early days of the pandemic, that made sense. It also makes sense for folks that are not vaccinated. If the point is that people are vaccinated, it does not really make sense.

HOWEVER, I would not make plans on entering the Sandbox. The government put a kill switch of 80 domestic cases in a week. Sinovac, what the people in Phuket got to protect against COVID-19, does NOT protect against Delta.

I think there were 60 cases last week (rolling total over 7 days)

Does the 80 cases though only count for incoming travelers or also the local population ? Either way though , this is too much of a gamble of a ruined trip for me.

@Josh **********
It's for the total population in Phuket. When it reaches 80, there may be more restrictions such as mandatory tour guides, "travel corridors" (?), or simply shutting down the sandbox.

@Benj****
Don't say that, my flights in 3 weeks.

It wasnt the whole plane but was a group of people that were travelling together, total including the person that tested positive was 14 i believe they are in hospital and the other travellers have been put in quarantine at there expense. They have requested to leave.555

>they quarantined the other remaining passengers on that flight.

It looks like he was part of a travel group, and the entire flight was part of that travel group, so they quarantined the entire flight.

IF you are traveling with your family, and one family member tests positive, the entire family will go to ASQ (BUT NOT the entire flight).

@Benjamin *****
Not sure that's correct. Certainly the woman interviewed on the Thaiger wasn't part of that group, she just happened to sit next to/near a guy in a family group that tested positive.
