Give city and state for birthplace.

Make absolutely certain you use the exact same spelling of your name as on your passport data page. Probably no special characters will be there. Use the same spacing. Check it several times. Error here is an automatic failure.

Also be very careful with the birthdate and expiration date.

The machine will often change it. Again, automatic failure if it’s not correct.

I used the Los Angeles Consulate last November.

My account had a LOT more than the minimum amount. I submitted a screenshot of my bank app. 2 weeks later they requested more information and I sent a photo of my latest month bank account on my computer. That was sufficient.

2 weeks later it was all approved.

Be patient.

Make sure you significantly exceed thr minimum amount.

The most common cause of rejection I see mentioned is incorrect information with your passport.

The system has problems with dates (birthdate and passport validity dates) and records them incorrectly. You need to check and correct the dates.

Also, the system has a lot of trouble with names. It wants family name and first name. It has trouble with middle names. It has trouble with hyphenated names.

The passport data page names must match what you are entering.

Many people from Myanmar have 4 names, so look really carefully at this.

Did the system reject you based on these issues?

Bangkok Bank update:

I have had this account for several years, initially opened on a tourist visa.

Because of all the confusion about accounts getting closed I visited the local branch today for peace of mind.

They said no problem with older accounts.

For these they look at cash flow to prevent money laundering…Large amount of money in and then out again.

Regular monthly deposits and bills paid online are normal and proper use of the account.

They are contacting people by email if there account issues.

USA passport on DTV visa. Account in Chiang Mai. 5 June 2025.
