He may be on the old green card, the new card is valid for 10 years, the old one may have expired or have less than 6 months validity on it. I only know this as my friend in New York had similar issues when travelling to Asia, he had 4 months on his green card and this was only last year.
That will be interesting if they all follow suit, and perhaps in Thai also, and if it will effect future extensions? Don't want to sound like a nai Sayer haha
