Remember that, if you do arrange your own tickets, there are potential pitfalls.
For example : you find an airline authorised to fly to Thailand (let's say Singapore airlines) so you book SIN-BKK with them. Then you book a flight to Singapore (let's say, British Airways). You'll not be able to travel. Why? Because they're separate tickets and you can't be through-checked. You'll not be allowed to enter Singapore (even to go straight to check in for your next flight).
Please ensure that ALL flights are on ONE booking.
The key is that it will lessen your CHANCES of catching the strain concerned. The fewer people who contract it, the fewer who can pass it on (etc etc). The flu jab protects you against the strains that are expected to predominate in that particular year. We will probably need further vaccinations against new mutations as the disease develops (as per flu at the moment) but it's too early to know right now.
