as James said, when your GF visits Immigration to cancel her ED visa/extension, she can apply for the "unable to fly Covid19" extension on the spot. Most Immigrations are very lenient in issueing this 60-days Covid-extension. Input Covid19 extension into the search box, to find what documents she needs to bring in order to apply for it. She but needs to apply before the action runs out by May 28
I always thought you can report the 90-days on ANY Immigration inside Thailand, given that you are registered under the TM30 by a hotel or guesthouse or private address on location . . so he could check into a hotel and visit Immigration the next day
just a question on my behalf, can I do said conversion to a Non-Imm-O based on being over 50/retirement as well ? Just curious because my extension of stay based on retirement becomes invalid by January 4th, 2022, and I am considering going back to my home country for urgent business. So in case I can do the conversion, it is less of a drama if I let my extension expire
ah, okay. I totally forgot this option. Inside Thailand "conversion" to a "Non-Imm-O visa based on marriage to a Thai" out of a visa exempt entry or a 60-days tourist visa
in case your extension expires because you cannot return in time, make sure to follow Piet de Keizer 's advice: you will have to apply for a new Non-Imm-O based on marriage at the Thai embassy or consulate in the USA, so make sure you have all required documents with you
get a re-entry permit and make sure you return to Thailand 4 weeks prior to October 30th. It might then be still a 14-days quarantine, allowing you 2 weeks to apply for the next annual extension of stay
*** I would get a new passport while you are in the USA, because you will need it for your next application for an extension of stay permit before the current one expires by January 2022
the 100K USD in covid insurance needs to cover the full period left on your extension of stay, i.e. until January 2022, as you will be stamped in for the full period left until then
One note: If you buy a multi-re-entry permit for 3800 Baht every year together with your fresh “1-year extension of stay permit” that costs a fee of 1900 Baht, you are definitely throwing pearls to sows, in case you do not plan to leave Thailand for at least four times within the 1-year period.
A single re-entry permit would be just enough, and it costs 1000 Baht at immigration. You can buy it on the day you go for your extension of stay permit, and it will be valid as long as the stay permit takes you. You will have saved 2800 Baht.
As a rule, I always buy a single re-entry with my extension, let alone in case I need to leave the country on a quick notice or in case I get repatriated as a sick patient. The re-entry permit would keep my current stay permit alive.
In the past I had, like the threadstarter, always bought the multi re-entry version, until one day the Immigration boss, going through my passport, said to me “Sir, you are spending money every year on re-entries you do did never use, in the past 8 years” and then told me to stick with a single re-entry or just buy one at the airport before leaving.
