TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a retirement extension before your current visa expires, the new expiration date will be the same as your current expiration date plus one year. Therefore, if you apply early for an extension that is set to expire on 15 July 2021, your new expiration date will be 15 July 2022. It's also important to note that certain financial requirements must be met prior to application.

AND....heads up. When applying, before your Expiration date, your funds, 800,000 must be seasoned 2 months before, from when you APPLY....NOT Expiration date, I hope this makes sense. Admin, thank you for letting me post......

I got 14 extensions stamped, and they all expire and begin on January 4th. However I have read that somebody lost one day when he was issued the extension, and upon questioning was told by the Immigration officer that's because February counts one day less every four years. Not kidding!

It'll be 14 July 2022

it will be the exact same expiration date as it is every year. I have 11 yearly extensions in my passport and even though I applied 45 days early for most of them they all expire on the same date my original Non-O visa 90 day stamp did. April 5th

Tod Daniels. You mean they fiddled me out of a day?

here's my original entry stamp from 2009 with an expiration date of april 5 and here's my most recent extension with the same expiration date for 2022 And I applied for that extension on Feb 24th (41 days early). Every extension i've gotten since that original entry stamp year after year, has expired on the same day

looks like you overstayed one day (shows that on the stamp but you weren't charged)

Tod Daniels. You're right. The 24th was Sunday. I had to go back with the updated insurance certificate, so it is the 24th. It was originally 25, but on re-entry the previous year the insurance fell one day short. That's where I got confused. Cheers

extensions of stays for the same reason as the previous extension are added to the expiration of the current extension. Meaning you'll get an extension until 15 July 2022 no matter when you go before it's due. Most offices allow you to apply when you have 30 days or less (some allow you to apply when you have 45 days or less)
