Will I be considered as overstaying my 60 Day Tourist Visa while waiting for my Covid extension decision?

Hi everyone. My extension to 60 Day TR visa is valid until 22 Jun and I recently applied for the Covid extension and received the under consideration stamp which says I must contact the office again on the 5th July. Does that mean I am overstaying after the 22 June while I wait until July 5 ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is concerned about overstaying their 60 Day Tourist visa after June 22, due to having applied for a Covid extension which is under consideration until July 5. Comments clarify that the under consideration stamp is regarded as a temporary extension, and technically, overstaying begins after July 5. It's advised to return to the office on that date to finalize the extension.

Why do people say “the extension starts at application”?

It does not.

It starts after your current end date.

now now careful there with the broad brushing
@Rus****
,

NOT all immigration offices do it that way

IF you are on say an entry stamp or a 30 day extension based on tourism and you're applying for your first 60 day covid extension MANY offices start that 60 days the date you apply for the extension because you're changing the reason for your extension from tourism (2.4) to covid (#5).

BUT when you are going from a covid extension to ANOTHER covid extension (seeing as the reason isn't changing) they add the new extension to your current expiration date.

well, you "lost" days on your admitted stay by missing out the normal 30-days extension one can apply for with a 60-days Tourist Visa, first, and apply for the 60-days Covid19 extenion closer to the date of July 28th, the day the current Covid19 action is finished

I think OP applied for a 30days standard tourism extension already (upper stamp)?

you are right, although he didn't mention it. However, he still lost the days between June 7th and June 22nd. He could have applied closer to June 22nd. The 60 days Covid19 extension start on the day of application. Just as a reminder to other readers of this group

An “under consideration” stamp can be thought of a “temporary” extension of stay. You will only be on overstay (in theory) starting July 6, 2021.

Return back on July 5, and they will give you the balance of the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19
