A foreign driver's license can be converted to a Thai driver's license at DLT. This requires a minimum of 3 months visa, a residence certificate from Immigration and a medical certificate from a medical clinic, as well as a national and international driver's license.
There is no restriction on arrival by plane. But the rule has previously been a maximum of 2 times within a year by landborder. Today it is up to the officer in charge.
From 1 July 2024, travelers from eight European countries can enjoy visa-free entry to Laos. Under the new policy, passport holders from Austria, Spain, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Greece do not need to apply for a visa on arrival in Laos.
