not sure why you need one. Retirement visa is easy to get before you arrive. Then 12 month extension is cheap as chips.

Get your visa before you arrive. Easier to open a bank account, and cheaper that way too.

then if you have a valid visa you can extend by 30 days. And if eligible based on passport you can leave and "border bounce" for an entry with no visa. But you didn't say what passport you have.

a visa run means you go apply for a visa via a Thai embassy. Check if your passport country is ok for visa-exempt ( no visa) entry of 60 days and do a border bounce.

You've got a visa? Why not extend it for 30 days. Some countries you get 60 days entry without a visa.
