TLDR : Answer Summary
A 70-year-old expat named John is concerned about his 90-day tourist visa application submitted to the Thai embassy in London, which has been marked as 'processing' for over a week. He has a flight booked for December 26th and is anxious due to previous negative experiences with visa issuances. Community members are suggesting contacting the embassy, noting that processing times can be longer during peak travel seasons and encouraging patience, while others clarify details about tourist visa validity and entry procedures.

I have recently come to Thailand on 90 day E-Visa secured from Thai embassy in Australia. The visa is valid for 90 days from date of issue. When you arrive in Thailand immigration will only stamp it for the standard 60 days. Not 90 days. Before the 60 days expires you will need to go Thai immigration & get your visa extended from 60 day to 90 day. Immigration will want to know where staying etc. Please refer my pic of passport stamp.
you do understand on a British passport this is totally unnecessary. You arrive and are given 60 days exempt then go tk local immigration office and apply for additional 30 days at a cost of 1900 baht, giving total 90 days stay
I've read numerous posts saying they waited 2-3 weeks . It's peak time for visa applications & I would think work processing load would have increased ten fold given the publicity regards scrutiny by immigration of one's previous travel history this year . Seems logical they would date prioritise
thank you Tony apart from one time when they sent the visa over a week after I had already entered Bangkok so I had to leave by air and returning by air I had been issued visas in 2-3 days
yeah. My first was rejected due to an error. My second was approved day after i arrived. I did a border run to Mynmar to activate it. All been smooth since. This was in 2024.
Yes Lynnette I ve done this visa 6-7 times in my 21 years Visiting and my son is 19 my duration is usually 70- 87days this time 87 I ve paid my fee on 25 Th November there has been no movement on my application other than processing they say it takes 25 min it’s 10 days now thank you
tourist visa gives you 60 days in the country. Which you can extend by 30 days. The exempt entry with no visa also gives you 60 days which you can extend for extra 30 days at local immigration.
it's a funny thing Thai embassies issue 90 day visas but when you get to Thailand the immigration officer shorten it to 60 days ( it happened to me last week 90 days issued in Ho chi Minh city at the Thai embassy but shortened to 60 days in Bangkok by the young immigration officer at the airport .) why do they even have an embassy when they override their decisions .
90 days validity from the day You get the visa, meaning due date to enter Thailand is 90 days. From the the day You enter Thailand You will get 60 days permit to stay.
Jo I spoke to you over the Covid period I m not doing anything suspicious I ve applied and got the visa previously visiting friends and family in total 90 days I m not too clever with visa s or any other form s on internet
90 day visa is the validity period to use it to enter Thailand. Then once you land you will be given 60 days stay in the country. If you have a passport from one of the eligible countries you could enter exempt of a visa for 60 days.
