@Russell ******
Thank you. It would be wonderful to get feedback on which blood banks the information has been extended to.

If they do let you donate on your UK passport, please do a Photo Op.

Thailand is the front-runner of the non-European/Western countries to Welcome Back Donors from The UK, France and Ireland

Many countries still have this restriction, including Western nations.

Celebrate 🍾 Thailand 🇹🇭 with your passport photo donating blood!

Are you Rh- ? Rh Negative is extremely rare in the Thai population. There is a specific group that manages the Rh Negative donors in Koh Phangan.

@Russell ******
You can donate in KP. I would not know if they have received this information or not. It's current as of 23 Feb, so very recent

Please tell your friends....

@Russell ******
Yes, At the National Blood Centre in Bangkok. On Henri Dunant Rd. ONLY. At the moment.

Rollout plan to inform the blood banks throughout Thailand is coming shortly. The Thai Red Cross has to disseminate the information throughout the staff.

I have one more thing to add

Rh- is extremely rare in the Thai population. 0.03% of Thai, 15% of Foreigners. It is a challenge to find enough donors, we ask Rh Negative donors to register.

Bumrungrad International Hospital, a leading hospital in Bangkok, recommends all Foreigners know their blood type - specifically because of Rh- shortfalls.

Hi Nigel, Donate at a local red cross. They will tell you on the spot.

Now, some blood banks may not test for Rh immediately as Rh- is so so rare here... they may not have a bottle of the reagent open. (the liquid that tests for a reaction)

But it will be tested later. And you can follow up with them later.

Alternatively, you can buy your own self test kit. It's an expensive option and I understand that the reagents must remain refrigerated.

Hi Terary, thank you for responding. The Red Cross Blood Banks are always available to take donations.

Some hospitals do not have donation capability and will host Red Cross blood drives instead. Government Hospitals often have donation capabilities. The smaller ones may not.

Please PM me and I will help you find a location near you.

Blood is our common life-source. Donated blood should be available to all patients who need it, regardless of who they are, where they are or their ability to pay.
