O Negative.

Please donate even if you do not know your blood type. Rh-Negative is EXTREMELY Rare in the Thai population. Less than 1 in 1000 are O Negative. Need Westerners to Donate.

Most people do NOT know their blood type. Go anyway. Westerners are the best source. Your Donation will be used by someone anyone. Always Used to Save a Life. The Thai population simply doesn't have Rh-Negative.

Two Places to Donate in Bangkok.

1. The National Blood Centre on Henri Dunant Rd in Bangkok.

📌 [members only]

The National Blood Centre accepts donors from the United Kingdom 🇬🇧, France 🇫🇷 and Ireland 🇮🇪. Special processing for blood.

2. Emporium Mall

(Does not accept donors from the vCJD "mad cow" region.

The Chonburi Red Cross is the closest Thai Red Cross. They have a mobile van that goes to Pattaya and they do a blood drive at

Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.

Donors are always needed. Particularly Rh-Negative. Please donate every 90 days.

Here is the mobile schedule for May. I post it on Thailand RH- Blood Donation

The closest red cross is Chonburi.

Chonburi has a mobile van that goes to Pattaya.

Here is the schedule. My Google picture translate isn't working at the moment.

We always need O Negative donors.

The Chonburi Red Cross also goes to the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya every 90 days.

Hi Terary. Bangkok Hospital Pattaya is not a Blood Bank. Most hospitals are not blood banks.

The Thai Red Cross is the donation location.

Bangkok Hospital Pattaya has a blood drive event every 90 days.

Here in Thailand O+ is the most needed blood group. 99.9% of the Thai population is Rh-positive. 80% of Westerners are Rh-positive.

Your donation is important!

It's just the Rh-Negative rarity that creates emergencies.

yes it would. Rhesus negative men can receive rhesus positive blood. They would develop anti-Rh antibodies which are of no consequence.

Rhesus negative women of child bearing age are a different story. If they develop anti-Rh antibodies, these can cross the placenta and affect her fetus.

They continue to use old forms. That’s part of the problem. In my case, five years ago, according to their rules at that time, they shouldn’t have accepted my donation. But it’s never been a problem for me. It depends where you go and the staff on the day. Please don’t be put off. There are so few blood donors. Hospitals can’t do anything without blood. It’s so important. You are vital!

They still want to know if you are from the Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease region "mad 🐄 ".

They are specially processing the blood. Taking Red Blood Cells only, discarding Plasma.

This is why only the National Blood Centre and the Larger Regional Blood Centres are accepting.

Still will see that question on the Form.

Please don’t be discouraged. I disclosed the same as you but it wasn’t a problem. Also, the ‘rules’ about donors over 65 only being allowed to donate every six months (instead of three), not being able to attend mobile collection sessions and requiring additional assessment before donation aren’t universally applied.

Thailand 🇹🇭 is the third non-European country to remove the restrictions.

Special processing for blood- so only certain large blood banks. See this post.
