TLDR : Answer Summary
There is an urgent appeal for A- blood donations in Bangkok due to critical medical needs, including saving individuals injured in a vehicle accident and an infant in ICU. The post highlights that A- blood is rare in Thailand, with only 1 in 1,000 Thai people being A-. The expat community is encouraged to participate in blood donations at Thai Red Cross locations, regardless of blood type. Key requirements for potential donors include no alcohol consumption 24 hours prior, being under 60 years old for first-time donors, and having a healthy meal beforehand. Special accommodations exist at the National Blood Centre for donors from the UK, France, and Ireland, due to historical concerns regarding mad cow disease.

I'm AB+ and a universal plasma donor if that's of any help.

Every blood type is needed.

I focused on the Rh-Negative as the Thai population simply doesn't have Rh-Negative (extremely rare) and Westerners do.

The Thai Red Cross will take plasma and platelet donors who have donated whole blood previously. Plasma/platelets take longer and they desire that the donor has the experience of Whole Blood. Less than 15 minutes in the "Chair of Life" , as we call it, for whole blood.
