 is it worth it? Seems a lot of benefit with no annual extensions and re-entry permit, but is it suitable since I'm living here on the non-o? I don't want any problems

Yes, affirmation and notarisation of passport must be translated and certified. I believe I had both stamped at the embassy, prior to these steps.
