You’re right. Up to the ‘or any other thing’ part.

You do indeed have the onerous task of spending ten minutes in an immigration office to complete a 90 day report which doesn’t incur a fee.

The alternative is to not.

Max fine ฿2000 the next time you need immigration to do something for you.

Just fly out and come back again. New 180 day stamp when you get back. The tax issue isn't clear yet. Worry about that when it is.
