from what I understand an extension keeps the visa valid. I’m not an expert by any means but I am just telling you that I had to cancel it first. Could I have not cancelled it and left? Sure. But I don’t want any issues later. A re entry as far as I know just allows you to reenter Thailand while on the visa. You still have to cancel it at some point.

The dtv is for those who work online remotely. It doesn’t matter what peoples jobs are because you are allowed to work online as long as you don’t work with Thai clients or receive money in Thailand.

no leaving doesn’t cancel it. I had to cancel mine through immigration and then leave. I did hear of someone not cancelling and getting the dtv but from what I understand you can’t have two visas. Call your agent or school and confirm though

this embassy was the best! Hassle free except the USD notes...that was a little annoying .

They had appointments on Oct 2- 4 up to about a few days ago. I booked mine about 2 weeks ago, there were plenty of appointments. Now, they are moving to Evisa in October so I think the last day for appointments was the 4th. Now they say it will take up to 30 days to get approved.

yes you need to do it at your local immigration or your school can handle it for you. You must cancel it first.

I just did this. First you cancel your education visa and leave without a re entry permit and get your dtv in a neighbouring country. I just wanted a clean slate without having 2 visas at the same time in case that created a complication.
