What should I do if I want to change my ticket to arrive in Thailand earlier than my original Certificate of Entry date?

NEED Urgent Help:

... I am set to arrive on May 10th in BKK and my COE was issued before May 1st with the 10th as a departure date from Malaysia to Thailand....what if I changed my ticket to May 5th, to arrive in BKK, would I just need to apply for a new COE and then I'd be allowed to do the 10 day quarantine?

Or would that count as a new COE being issued AFTER May 1 and disqualify me for the 10 days?

Since I already have a COE, can it be ammended? Confusing stuff....and the Thai Embassy in KL is closed on Monday and it's the weekend so time is LIMITED. Not sure if this is worth trying to do...any thoughts? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about modifying their flight to Thailand and the implications it has on their existing Certificate of Entry (COE). They currently have a COE issued before May 1st, allowing for a 10-day quarantine. If they change their flight to May 5th, which is after the COE issuance date, they are unsure if they can amend the COE without disqualifying themselves from the shorter quarantine period. Community responses indicate that changes to the COE may not be accepted after May 1 and that the best advice would come directly from the Thai embassy, as rules around entry and quarantine are subject to change.

The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced the extension of the quarantine period for all arrivals beginning May 1, 2021. Until further notice, all arrivals who hold Certificates of Entry (COE) issued on or later than May 1, 2021 will be required to undergo quarantine for 14 days regardless of their nationality or vaccination status. Travelers who obtained their COE prior to May 1, 2021 and arrive before May 6, 2021 will be quarantined for 7 or 10 days depending on their vaccination status. Also, Thailand has suspended the issuance of COEs for non-Thai nationals traveling from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh until further notice.

based on what you’ve told.... your original plan would get you out of quarantine on the 21st, and your change would (potentially) get you out on either the 15th (best case scenario) in 20th (worst case scenario). Would this make a massive difference to you or your plans given the results? Not an answer or advice, just food for thought.

The actual answer to your question lies with the embassy and the Thai government. We can only give you (hopefully) productive ideas and options. As the rules and regulations have changed since you got issued with your COE no one here knows the answers for you, sorry. I do wish you the best though

Original plan is now 14 days as arriving after 5 May

Have you tried asking the hotel you’re booked in about length of time with regards to dates etc? They might some insight since the rules keep changing before, during , and after bookings are done 🤷🏼‍♂️

It's worth a try, but I don't think it will work, as you will need a new COE, and this will be issued after the 1st.

is the COE re issued with a new date or just amended with the same original date? I ask because I genuinely don’t know as mine never changed after I got it

Dobey Wan Kenobe. I honestly don't know. If it is the case it would work. The OP can give it a shot and hope for the best.

Pretty sure you've missed the boat on that one now as amended CoE would be on or after 1 May.
