I recently returned to the UK for 2 weeks. On obtaining my re-entry permit at Jomtien I asked if I needed to notify them of my return, "Not if you stay same address" was the reply.
Having read some of the comments on here about Jomtien immigration fining people for not reporting on their return, I went back to Jomtien on my return to notify them. I was again told " No need to do if stay same address".
Thanks Tod, I'm aware of the fees for both applications and there may have been some misunderstanding between myself and the information desk at immigration.
My main concern is that would I be able to use my recently obtained certificate of income for both applications? Or will they march me back to BKK for a new one for the extension application?
No doubt all shall be revealed when I return next week!!!!
/18 .... I went to Chonburi Immigration office this morning to enquire about the required documents for my 90 day non O visa and 12 months extension. A very kind lady gave me the below information sheet and proceeded to fill out the required forms for me there and then to enable me to apply for 90 day plus 1year extension simultaneously
1. Form TM86 Application for change of visa
2. Form TM7 for application for extension of temporary stay in Thailand.
3. Acknowledgement of terms and conditions of temporary stay in Thailand
I was unable to proceed with my application at this time as my intention was only to enquire about what was needed and I didn't have the necessary fees and other paperwork. It seems pretty straight forward and I shall be returning early next week to complete.
Update....I'm here at the department of consular affairs/ministry of foreign affairs for my certificate of income to be certified .....
The legislation department is on the 3rd floor.
Arrived 10am filled out the application form (available at a counter as you exit the stairs). Went to document checking kiosk and obtained ticket number in the queue.
Documents required..
1. Certificate of income
2. Copy of data page of passport
3. Copy of visa page and entry stamp.
Waited in the queue, 10.30am called to the counter paid fee of 400bht and told to return at 2.30pm that day to collect the document.
Update....I have today received back my certificate of income via post from the British Embassy in Bangkok.
I have contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok today who inform me that they do not legalize/certify documents there and I need to go to Chaeng Watthana Immigration....... is this correct, or have I just rang on a bad day or spoke to the wrong person perhaps?
