On Koh Samui we had those rules already since a year. All photo copies have to be done in a way that the reader does not have to turn the file to read them.

Immigration told me once that if I want to change banks I have to make sure there is no gap meaning the transfer has to be done same day. So, if you do transfer make sure there is no gab. Best is to take a cashiers check and physically bring it and deposit it at the new bank on the same day.

Samui in the past few years has always been the same day but a week later, which makes it 8 days. they hold your passport and all you have is a tiny piece of paper with a number and a return date on it. So, no banking or travel booking during that time.

Found this out the hard way, and had to leave the country to get a new visa. Since it takes about 3+ weeks to get a new passport this can get tricky very fast. The last two pages in the US passport are for endorsements only, so immigration won't use them, they want two pages left which are dedicated to visas only. (at least this is what Samui immigration told us at that time.)

Also, make sure the pages in your passport say: "VISA" on them. My wife had to leave the country because her American passport with 3.5 empty pages had printed "Endorsement" on the last two pages, which was not acceptable to immigration. So we had to leave the country same day. Fortunately she had a second passport, and we made it back from Penang in time just before the shut down year ago,.

My wife and I were once stuck in Los Angeles because here German passport had less than 6 month on it. Within a day she got a one year passport from the German consulate and we were on our way to Thailand entering with no problem.
