How can my wife change her trailing status to her own retirement status on a visa in Thailand?

My wife is trailing on my retirement visa. We both have bank accounts for 800K and are over 50 years old. My question, how can my wife change her "trailing" status to her own retirement status. She got a NO visa (for 3 month) two years ago in Penang trailing on my existing visa because we could not supply the required embassy letter at the given time but could supply a marriage certificate. Now we would like to get a change of status for her situation?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To change her trailing status to her own retirement visa, your wife can apply for a new Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years old. She needs to hold the required funds (800,000 THB in her own bank account for 2 months, or a monthly income of 65,000 THB) and apply 30 to 45 days before her current visa expires.

yep, it's pretty straightforward,

all she'd be doing is changing the reason for her extension from "trailing spouse" to "being over 50 (retirement)".

She'd need to meet the proof of funds via banked money 800K baht in a thai bank account in her name only for 2 months before she applies

OR

by monthly income 65K baht a month transferred into her account from abroad or the affidavit of income from abroad (IF your embassy issues it)

thank you sounds easy enough

Easy way is wait until 45 or 30 days (depending on location) before the current Extension of Stay ends and apply both for a new Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age.
