Hi all

I have a question regarding the 90 days Non-immigrant O visa extension to one year:

How long it takes to get the extension stamp from the day of the application submission?

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The processing time for a 90-day Non-Immigrant O visa extension can vary significantly depending on the type of extension and the specific immigration office. Some offices may process the extension and issue the stamp on the same day if all documents are in order. However, in some locations, applicants might receive an 'under consideration' stamp, requiring them to return at a later date to finalize the extension. Instances of holding the passport for several days have been reported, particularly in Samui, where applicants may be without their passport for up to a week.

Samui in the past few years has always been the same day but a week later, which makes it 8 days. they hold your passport and all you have is a tiny piece of paper with a number and a return date on it. So, no banking or travel booking during that time.

A few random reports of some offices doing a 30 day under consideration stamp and making a home visit to confirm you live where you say. But 99.9% of the time it will be as Tod has stated.

I received a 30 day under consideration stamp when I applied for a first time 12 month extension of Non O retirement at Samut Prakan immigration last week.

i NEVER ever heard of anyone getting an under consideration stamp on a yearly extension based on retirement.. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I stand corrected, leave it to that renegade office in Samut Prakan to do something like that ๐Ÿ™

If it is an extension based on being over 50 (retirement) as a general rule ๐Ÿ™‚ it is issued on the spot.

If it is an extension based on marriage to a thai or raising thai children you get an under consideration stamp and then go back on that date to get the extension inked in

SOME offices Phuket and Jomtien hold your passport overnight when you get retirement extensions and you come back the next day to pick up your passport with the extension inked in.
