I applied and paid on the same day in Vientiane last September and never needed to do an interview. I was able to pick up my passport with DTV visa (soft power, Muay Thai) 2 days later.

Are they now requiring all DTV applicants to do an interview?

Anonymous participant 466 There’s always a difference between the way rules are stated and the way they are actually enforced, particularly here. I received a DTV last year without any hassles despite a few relatively short (<5 days) overstays, including one in 2023.

Just returned from Chiang Khong to Huay Xai (Laos) border run as my initial 180-day DTV entry was set to expire. Paid 25 baht for bus across the border, 2000 baht for Laos entry/exit stamps, 25 baht for bus back and got 180-day entry stamp upon return. No questions asked, no documents needed. Hopefully it will stay this simple!

I was told by my Muay Thai school that no 90-day report was required for DTV. Now I know they were wrong. However, I haven’t filed any 90-day report. My first 6 month entry expires 8 March and I will do a border bounce to Laos on Monday. What type of hassle should I be prepared for when I attempt re-entry (land re-entry at Chiang Khong, Chiang Rai province)?

Thanks in advance!
