Advice pls!

Applied in Vientane 14/5

Paid 14/5

Emailed with interview set for.... 28/5

Anyone else in Vientiane just get shafted?

Is it worth a shot going back in person to the consulate to see if anything can be done?

I've already made bookings hosting my parents for 6 days in Thailand thinking I'd given myself plenty of time from everything I'd read about the Vientiane consulate, and this is... a bit of a clusterf*ck.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user expressed frustration about their visa interview scheduled for May 28th after applying and paying on May 14th, feeling it was too late for their planned trip with family. Community members provided various advice: some suggested patience and adherence to the consulate's timelines, while others recommended emailing for an earlier appointment or attending in person. The conversation also highlighted differing experiences among users regarding typical processing times, with some advocating for a standard two-week wait, and others citing quicker results.

Yeah doesn't it suck when things don't go according to our own individual made up expectations?

An agent can get you in next day in Vientienne

Those are 10 working days.

They haven't done anything out of what they set as a usual standards

It is you who have scheduled your coming days based on an assumption

Due to the Interview policy in Laos the things goes 10 to even 15 days (working days )

If you were looking for faster

Hanoi was your option with no Interview.. but you choose Laos and Interview

@AllSabaai *****
no your wrong I’ve scoured every Laos application and the average has been 4-7 days I’ve not seen one that has taken two weeks so this is all of a sudden unusual

For you to not argue more

@AllSabaai *****
ok so why over the last 6 months has there never been in DTV group an application that has taken so long as his one. You are referring to a bog standard notice on all visa sites its a common notice. im going by real time data which is 4-7 days for almost every single application in laos so when someone gets 14 days its not in line with the common place real time visa application it is only against what it says online. if you cant understand that in plain english then i cant help you anymore and you are agents, even the new agent in tik tok is taking 2 weeks. if you search through DTV for all laos dtv applications you will see the average is how i say. thanks
AllSabaai ******
@Paul ********
actually we haven't ask you for any help to tell us ( i can't help you anymore)

We haven't ask anyone help

So keep your efforts to help who really needs.

Not us

And we told you.. our clients got it in 7 working days...if you can understand English too.

And also told you there is a note on website says it can take more and we state that if it goes to what they said

It doesn't mean there is something wrong.. this is time frame.

This ends up this conversation

1- we are not wrong

2- your cases which you said you scored are not the standards ( only they are cases )

3- the embassy themselves mentioned that on the website ( time frame)

So if you get it before then that is good

But if they do it in the time frame mentioned then there is no complains

4- we have done DTV for our clients in Laos and it took around 10 days ( means around 7 working days)

But he.was lucky due to the near time of interview

But still... if the embassy process in as mentioned in the website of the embassy itself

So we are not wrong and they are working in the time frame they set

Oh that’s gonna upset mine too I’m on my way tonight and to be fair I’ve done a ton of research in this group and the average is 4-7 days max including weekends.

It says 2 weeks on all the websites as that’s a common theme.

I’ll let you know tmrw if I’m screwed as well 😆

I’ve got a hospital appointment on the 28 th so hopefully I’m not after you lol.

Is your hair still like that in the Yosemite picture?

I applied and paid on the same day in Vientiane last September and never needed to do an interview. I was able to pick up my passport with DTV visa (soft power, Muay Thai) 2 days later.

Are they now requiring all DTV applicants to do an interview?

Another whiny whinger who thinks they deserve something special. It’s within their published timeframe. Duck it up princess 👸

My advice? Be patient. They operate on their schedule, not on yours. And don't bring that attitude with you when you show up for your interview.
John **********
That is pretty standard processing time as outlined on their website. The good news is that if the interview is OK you will get the visa shortly thereafter. Pretty sure they they do this to ensure you remain there until the process completes.
Anonymous ******************
Email them with your flight ticket and ask if you can be seen sooner.
Anonymous ******************
That's the standard waiting time though... You may try to ask to change the date.
John *******
It doesn’t hurt to ask for an earlier interview. However, I suspect there has to be a reason why your interview is in two weeks (fully booked up with interviews until then, etc.). The Vientiane embassy’s webpage says one should expect it to take 10-15 business days

Looks like the Embassies are winning now🙏

This is a legit workcation application, rather than the usual dodgy softpower nonsense.

Half of these “workation” applications are dodgy, man. I’ve never seen so many wannabe influencers in one place! At least my soft power was legit — I was cooking Thai food day in and day out.

No need to judge, though. One path isn’t better than another. I’ve got a DTV and I’m happy here. Best of luck to you.

@Shash ********
Given that statement you should be happy they are thoroughly assessing your application 5555. Maybe write them a strongly worded letter informing them they are upsetting your plans and your parents vacation. That should do the trick :-)
Wesley ********
its only 2 weeks. seems pretty standard waiting period.
Wannikea *********
@Wesley *******
hardly standard, most interviews in Vientiane are scheduled within a few days.

@Wesley *******
it might be standard for elsewhere, but the typical time reported here is between 1-4 business days, with the latter because of holidays.

So glad you chimed in.
Kool *******
@Shash ********
understand that as soon as short wait times are reported publicly at any embassy throngs of applicants flock to that embassy, and the queue get longer, as you are experiencing. Deal with it if you want the visa. The same happened in Vietnam. It's not as though you are the only one applying. There are hundreds applying daily there now, as it is the closest embassy.
