What does it mean when my visa application status shows 'Pending Approval' at the Vientiane embassy?

ORIGINAL POSTERI applied at the Vientiane embassy (workation), and the status changed to “Pending Approval” on Friday. Does this mean they will schedule an interview soon? Because I haven’t received any interview invitation by email yet

Anyone else in Vientiane just get shafted?
Is it worth a shot going back in person to the consulate to see if anything can be done?
I've already made bookings hosting my parents for 6 days in Thailand thinking I'd given myself plenty of time from everything I'd read about the Vientiane consulate, and this is... a bit of a clusterf*ck.
