As Stated elsewhere, the Thai Tax department is going to have to man up extensively to check all the people that are about to come into the system, it will take years to catch up. They will be concentrating on the big players who until now have kept their profits offshore for 12 months, then bringing them in tax free. The farangs living here are small fry in the scheme of things, and they are already getting VAT every time you spend a Baht. It will probably arrive as a deduction from bank accounts where no tax file number is provided.

I was meaning to ask Thai authorities or the embassy in the country of origin before travel.

If it's an EVisa, it will automatically pop up and be activated as soon as your passport is scanned, not sure if immigration will allow you to keep it for next time, I would ask the question before hopping on the plane

except probably that while the admin of this page is doing a great job, he isn't paid by the Thai Govt, and people who get all their advice from a guy they met in a bar at 2am. are also free to post, and feel they must offer official advice, even though they can't remember where they heard it.Their are rules in Thailand and to be legal they have to pass parliament, be signed off by the King, and then be published in the Royal Gazette. Unfortunately some politicians aren't even aware of that and make statement that the popular media publish as fact. Sound familiar??

It depends on what level of society you are looking at, I suppose, we have heaps of friends, some of the women have divorced the husbands for may reasons, some are happily married, no different to any society really.

I would just go to my local library, with whatever docs they need and a credit card. You will need an email address, I am sure a librarian or volunteer will assist, it's very easy. And you get an email back with the Evisa attached library can print that out, and you give it and your passport to the immigration gate for Thai nationals and old farangs and you are in. I'm 76 and did it 5 weeks ago. Very easy

I would be more worried about a couple of other things you said, I have met someone, and I am opening a business. After 50 yrs of being around Thailand, all I see is another Farang being set up for a fall. You may be the exception, but Thailand does have rules and you are breaking several of them, be careful!!
