TLDR : Answer Summary
A user in Udon Thani asked about the documents required for a 90-day visa extension. However, responses clarified that there is no 90-day extension available; a single 30-day extension can be granted on a tourist visa or no visa (visa exempt). Those arriving with a NON-O visa may only apply for a 1-year extension unless they have a Thai spouse or child. Suggestions to check the Thai immigration website or visit the immigration office were given, although some users criticized the lack of direct answers.

except probably that while the admin of this page is doing a great job, he isn't paid by the Thai Govt, and people who get all their advice from a guy they met in a bar at 2am. are also free to post, and feel they must offer official advice, even though they can't remember where they heard it.Their are rules in Thailand and to be legal they have to pass parliament, be signed off by the King, and then be published in the Royal Gazette. Unfortunately some politicians aren't even aware of that and make statement that the popular media publish as fact. Sound familiar??

I understand that the very best, but the purpose of this page is specifically advice on thai visa, seems a bit odd that idiots come on a say to go to thai website. Those comments kinda make the page useless. Imagine if every question asked, that was the answer 🤣🤣 plus, not only is it a learning curve for the person asking the questions, it can also be a learning curve for all of us that don't know the answer. 👍🏻

There is no 90 day extension. If you arrived with a tourist visa or no visa (visa exempt) you can do a single 30 day extension.

If you arrived with a non-O visa the only extension possible is the 1-year extension unless you have a Thai wife or child.

I’m coming to Thailand next week on a non-O 90 day visa. I’m eligible for marriage and retirement visa; Is there a 3rd option to stay for a year without a border run?

You get a 1 year extension of your non O visa at the Thai immigration office. You can extend either as retired or as married. No need to leave the country.

No you cannot, the first extension has to be for the same reason that the Non-O was issued for

if you're arriving with a non-O visa your only option is the 1 year extension based on the same reason you got the initial visa. You cannot change reasons between your visa and the extension of that visa.

I got the visa based on retirement. So how will I go about converting it to a marriage visa so I can get a work permit? My understanding is that I can’t even volunteer without a work permit.

you cannot convert it. You would have to enter on your visa then leave Thailand which will cancel your visa. Then you could apply for a marriage non-O at a nearby Thai embassy or enter as a tourist and apply to convert to marriage visa at immigration.

Have you done a border bounce to get a new 12 month entry stamp before your OA expires (plus new insurance)?

there's no special document for non-OA. It's just going to be the regular retirement one but with an additional requirement for insurance. It makes no sense to apply for an extension of an OA visa because you'll have to keep the insurance requirement forever. It's much better to switch to non-O and then do annual extensions on that.

they do not have 60 days. Nothing has changed about visa exempt and no one knows if or when it will start. It's still just a proposal

most immigration offices will require you to apply for 30 day tourist extension. If you need more time after that you can apply for 60 day visiting Thai family extension based on your Thai wife.
