What are the options for extending a non-B visa in Thailand after resigning from a position during lockdown?

Hey guys, in need of some visa help/advice. I was in the process of getting a work permit right before the lockdown and extension had been put into effect. During the lockdown, I ended up resigning from my teaching position and now currently on a non-b with the extension until July 31st.

I am looking to stay here long term and have been researching a lot of visas but it seems like I can only get a visa if I am on a tourist visa. Does anyone know of a way around this? It seems I will also have a lot of issue coming back into the country if I leave so leaving is not an option. I understand there is an extra fee at immigration to have everything done "in-house" which is fine, but the "non-b" seems to be my issue right now. Advice? Thoughts?

Thank you so much for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their non-B visa after resigning from their teaching role during lockdown. They are currently on a non-B visa with an extension until July 31st and are looking for long-term options without leaving the country. The conversation highlights challenges faced by users in similar situations, including the need for specific visa types after resigning, options like using an agent, the possibility of obtaining an educational visa, and advice on dealing with immigration processes. Several comments suggest looking for a language school to explore educational visa routes but emphasize the need for an existing tourist visa to qualify.

Hope that makes sense.

I visited immigration today with the same issue. Here is a copy of my understanding. Immigration say that when old school cancel work permit they will give me a letter. I must take that letter together with new work permit. Criminal records check and teacher licence to immigration. They will cancel old non b and issue new one. I should do this before July 31st or if amnesty extended the new end date. There is no need for me to leave Thailand as I have been throughout the Covid 19 matters and to do so would expose me. They also say i can cancel visa myself, get an extension which will be valid until visa amnesty finishes and then do a border crossing for a new non b visa

Find a good Thai language school and talk to them. Should do it right away because it can take up to 4 weeks to process the visa. It has to be completed before amnesty is up.

Schools can only give you an ed visa if you are currently on a tourist visa but if you are on any other non b you can't. I've seen both tsl and major schools they say you have to leave the country to apply for the ed visa in another country.

Yes you are correct. I just checked the email they sent me and the only ed visa they can now issue for people without leaving the country is for people who where on tourist visas and are now on amnesty. They said it can take 4 to 6 weeks and the Ed visa has to be issued before amnesty is up. So they were suggesting people apply right away. I received the email in mid June.

can you recommend any school?

There are 2 good schools in Pontip Plaza Chiang Mai. One is called “We Learn Thai” and the other is “TSL”. TSL is who I received the email from. They are on the 3rd floor. There office will be open again on July 1st. They probably have a Facebook page.

Facebook. TSL Chiang Mai

If an agent says they can help you. Turn around and walk away with the money in your pocket.

no its cheaper to use an agent

My point being. An agent cannot extend. He’s on the amnesty.

Even with an agent it's Not possible to get around... Wait. Because you have No visa u are only on amnesty

You would probably need to use an agent.

There is no way around the situation at the moment as you cant leave to get a tourist visa etc...
