Not a bad idea. I think you need minimum 10 years of NI contributions in order to qualify for part-pension. It'll supplement your superannuation. Keep in mind you have to keep paying until you reach retirement age (at the moment 66)

Yes exactly what I mean. It's like saying "I'm Asian, what are the requirements to enter Thailand". Means absolutely nothing, as each country is treated differently.

Keep in mind Thailand does not recognise "European Nationality" as Europe is not a nation. Each individual country has different entry requirements for Thailand. It's the same with Asia, as Laos, Singapore and India all have different requirements

I'm the same. 35 years in the public service. Very generous pension which is tax-free. But tax-free is not "Centrelink free" and any income from private pensions is assessable by Centrelink. I don't qualify for the Aussie state pension because of this, although due to ten years I worked in the UK, I'm entitled to a part-pension, which is because it's a totally separate scheme

The Australian pension is means tested, so your other super funds may not allow you to get the state pension. UK is different as a seperate "National Insurance" exists into which everyone pays, and hence you get the state pension irrespective of any private pension schemes.

If you've been living in Australia for the two full years prior to applying for the pension, you're good to go, your pension is portable. It's only for those already living overseas and return to Australia simply to apply for the pension who have to serve the two years residency test

If you're not already a member, join this group. This subject is often a hot topic amongst Aussies, and there's some very informative posts if you search for them

Eventually you would probably be denied entry, and that goes on your immigration record. Never think for one moment you can pull the wool over the eyes of Thai immigration. There's a reason they take your photo and fingerprints each time you enter. They know exactly how long you've been in the country

Good to see you got the joke! Where's all the "300 baht foreigner discrimination" boys now? 🤣🤣
