if you buy thai insurance it wont cover preexisting conditions, they will raise, cancel you or exclude the conditions if you make a claim, and the amount you’re likely to get for a serious illness is little more than your annual premium. Its fine to say everyone needs health insurance but its not that easy
I understand, but the international locations cannot transfer between countries. Bangkok bank in new York, Citibank in Thailand (had a few advantages for Americans but is being sold to a thai bank). Some banks have multi-currency accounts (Krungsri Boarding Card), but there will be a cost to get your currency into Baht.
Bangkok Bank and 2 others can exceed the limit. I just got a notice from krungsri that i need to come have them identify my face in order to transfer over 50.k, not sure if this is for wise
Many thai refuse those without work permits. You have to keep trying. Also, to get a residency certificate from many immigration offices, you have to have done at least 1 90-day report. I understand that the US Embassy, if you are American, will stop issuing residency certificates June 1.
very few people who are long term here ate permanent residency, thats hard to get. And many of us are retired or not working but still need bank accounts.
