In short, opening a bank account will be your biggest hurdle. Much easier (possible) arriving on a non-o visa.

yes, if you have a bank account here already. Otherwise you'll struggle to open one, to deposit the required funds on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry

Krabi have asked for this on each of my retirement non-o extensions. They even came to visit a week later.

the balance in your bank book is dated today. Yes, same day, go before. Btw in Krabi they take your photo electronically, no hard copy needed.

You don't have to leave after 90 days on the non-o and year extension. I haven't left in 7 years.

The hardest part now about obtaining a non-o in country, is opening a bank account. It's a chicken and egg problem that's a challenge to solve. Easier to arrive on a non-o (don't get a non-oa by mistake, differing ongoing requirements) open a bank account, deposit funds, season for 2 months and extend for the year.
