TLDR : Answer Summary
Many travelers report that they have flown in and out of Bangkok with multiple laptops and tablets without any issues or questioning from security. Some commenters mentioned that carrying several electronic devices might raise questions about legality, such as suspicions of working without a visa. However, the general consensus among expats suggests that this is not a common occurrence, and most have not faced scrutiny over carrying multiple tech devices. It's noted that typically security focuses more on dangerous items rather than questioning the legality of possession of multiple laptops.

Perhaps they were worried about battery capacity

i always fly with 2 laptops (sometimes 3…), one tablet and 3 iphones… never been asked… but i’d be concerned if it happened coz it’s actually not their business………

 Leaving Bangkok? Why would they care? Are they going to make you stay? And I wouldn’t think the staff or you go through security or connected with customs or immigration,

Being more concerned about you having something dangerous. I’ve never had a problem in Thailand, but at the new, awful Berlin airport last year, I had a lot of tech stuff, they were fine with that, but I had a plastic bag with two power banks, and a watch. They stopped the line, sent the other people to another Q, and called the police on me. They asked me what I was doing with a watch and a power bank. I almost missed the flight, and I will never fly through that airport again.

Have been questioned yes , an IT bag 2 lap tops and some phones , it's not uncommon to be asked , could be working illegally , or carrying out other activities that are illegal .

Reasonable questions , just have the correct answers .

It always just takes one f wit , with no idea , hence laughing emoji ( idiot ) again standard practise when you have multiple pieces of tech , but of course not EVERY person will be questioned , neither is EVERY person who is doing something questionable or illegal for that matter as that would be impossible ..

It's pretty obvious the reasoning .

Of course, being in possession of multiple electronic devices could be a sign one is running a scam. However, 2 laptops, probably not.

Poorly trained security officials aren't interested in or even have the capacity to come up with such accusations. Plenty of foreigners working legally might have 2 or more laptops with them.

Never even heard of immigration questioning someone based on what they're bringing into the country. Obviously, that's the job of customs, but they're mostly interested in ensuring you aren't violating customs regulations..

Each government department only does whatever their job role states. Therefore, I can't imagine a security official doing or saying anything unless of course you're attempting to smuggle something illegal. Then they'll call in the police.

I've heard people say they suspect you of working in the country illegally if you have lots of computer equipment
Paul *******
@Bonnie ******
Rofl, I doubt that. However, passengers in possession of many electronic devices could potentially be flagged as online scammers.
