I heard that term before too, but how is it different from a work contract? Isn't that what defines the employment? ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for the insights. I would love to add some questions as I'm currently in Kaoshiung and planning to take a train to Taipei for a couple days later this month to also get a DTV. ๐Ÿ™‚

Are you self-employed? If so, did you just write a simple work contract?

I'm running an LLC in Dubai and am wondering if the company formation and MOA (shoring that I'm the owner and only shareholder) is enough. Writing a contract for myself seems kinda silly. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Do you know if they only care about the current bank balance? I haven't kept 500k THB in my account and would only transfer that from my company over this week so that I can show it. But it would be only recent, not for multiple months.

Thanks again! ๐Ÿ™‚

Let me preface with something important:

It's not abot 'true' or not. There is no law that tells banks that they have to give you a bank account depending on your visa.

It's up to the bank to decide with whom they want to enter into business. ๐Ÿ™‚

If they want to see a work permit, then that's fine. Their rules. ๐Ÿ™‚

Buuuut, I've heard multiple people saying that with an agent you can get a bank account.

I've also read about people trying different branches, or even talking to a different employee and getting different outcomes.

My summary (and what I'll do as soon as I'm back in Thailand with the DTC) is:

just ask somewhere and if they say no, go somewhere else and try again.

If I get too many no's and get tired of asking around, I'll pay an agent.

But you don't get a WP with a DTV, you don't need a WP for a bank account and it's a hassle to get one. But it can be done. ๐Ÿ™‚

I was sick since I arrived here last week so I couldn't make any progress on that. I hope to be able to go there later this month or early November. I'm still not 100% sure if they want multiple months of bank statements or just the current status. We will find out very soon. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

That's what it reads like when looking at the documentation.

But no one can tell you for sure because no one has even reached the end of the first 180 day period because the Visa doesn't even exist that long.

And it wouldn't be the first time that things are different than they are documented in Thailand all of a sudden. To be 100% sure I would ask the same question again in about 2 to 3 months to see what the actual real life experiences are of those who did the first Visa run after 180 days.

But it's likely going to be fine, don't worry. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Awesome, thank you!

It's fascinating to see how people tell different stories (especially about documents being stamped and notarized or not).

did you need a contract if you are also the owner of the company anyway?
