For those thinking about applying for the DTV in Taiwan, here is an up to date statement (received 5min ago). The link in there is the one you probably already know if you researched Taiwan: https://tteo.thaiembassy.org/th/publicservice/the-destination-thailand-visa-dtv?page=5d7dc71915e39c072c004ea4 So it's still a walk-in, no appointment kind of thing. 👍

Answer summary

The latest information on applying for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) in Taiwan indicates that it remains a walk-in process without the need for an appointment. Applicants are referred to the Thai embassy's website for more details. There are discussions regarding the use of a sponsor letter instead of showing 500,000 baht and confirmation that visas can be issued on the same day. Additionally, applicants are advised on bank statement requirements, emphasizing the need for an English version or a self-translation stamped by the bank.

FYI, I've asked about the bank statements:

"Basically our official languages are English and Thai, so I hope you can apply for an English version from the bank. If the bank does not provide an English version, you can translate the content yourself and have the bank stamp it for you."

I was sick since I arrived here last week so I couldn't make any progress on that. I hope to be able to go there later this month or early November. I'm still not 100% sure if they want multiple months of bank statements or just the current status. We will find out very soon. 🙃

that's what it sounds like. But I haven't applied yet so I can't speak from experience.

Hi. So a sponsor letter can be done in place of showing 500k baht? From anyone? Or someone from Thailand?

be very careful with trying that... have not seen any reported success using a sponsor letter. Relationship of sponsor to the applicant likely a key.

I would ask the embassy you or planning to apply to directly. Only they will be able to tell you for certain.

I would assume it doesn't matter where the sponsor is as long as they can give you the money.
