I am at immigration right now and was denied a full 12 month ED visa because my 50th birthday is in 6 months. They will issue me a visa only until my birthday.

Thanks. Immigration in Phuket confirmed I didn't have to cancel the visa. I can just leave the country and re-apply for a ed visa upon my return.
