My ED visa will expire in June. I was told I need to do a border run if I want tp apply for another ED Visa (Muay Thai). Is this my only option? Is it possible to get another ED visa in Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is inquiring about renewing their ED visa, which is set to expire in June. They have been informed that a border run may be necessary to apply for another ED visa, specifically for Muay Thai. Commentary reveals that while a border run is an option, if changing schools or programs, they need to leave the country and return with a new stamp. Current immigration advice confirms that the individual can leave and re-apply for the ED visa upon their return without needing to cancel their existing visa.

Thanks. Immigration in Phuket confirmed I didn't have to cancel the visa. I can just leave the country and re-apply for a ed visa upon my return.

depends on if you're on a VISA or an EXTENSION. You cannot cancel a visa. But an ED extension must be cancelled or you won't be able to get a new ED visa and you'll be fined 20,000 baht for failing to cancel it.

If you're talking about changing schools or changing programs, then yes you'll need to leave and re-enter on a clean stamp.

If you're on an extension of stay based on Education now, you'll also need to cancel that with documentation from your current school before leaving the country.

Yes.

You can.
