Can I apply for an additional 60-day extension on a 30-day visa exemption in Thailand?

Hi Tod Daniels

I am reading through many posts on Thai visa advices and you often provide valuable answers

I am Canadian, visa exempt on 30 days entry.

Paying the ฿1900 for extension, can I ask for 60 days EXTRA (putting my authorized stay to 90 days) , instead of the usual 30.

If yes, what is the criteria and fees?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian expat is inquiring about the possibility of extending their 30-day visa exemption for an additional 60 days by paying ฿1900. The community responses indicate that it is not possible to receive a 60-day extension on a visa-exempt entry; only a 30-day extension is permitted. After that extension, the user would need to leave Thailand and apply for a new visa or return on a new visa exemption.

I wish people good luck in telling their Embassy that all the airports and borders are closed in Thailand and in their home countries. Convince them that it is really impossible to leave.

If you manage to get that statement on paper, you explain the same to Immigration before you go into overstay and apply for a 30 day Extension of Stay on Embassy request.

What if you extend a tourist visa for 30 days once and then try to extend again for another 1900฿, they will refuse that, sure. but do they grant 7 more days for you to leave the country? 🤔

yep, they usually will give you the "extension denied" 7 day stamp to get out of the country for 1900baht.

No you can only get 30 days, however these are weird times where you might be able to get more time on future extensions due to the Covid19

you can get a one 30 day extension on a 30 day visa exempt entry for 1900baht. Then you leave the country to either BUY a thai visa from a nearby consulate OR you come back in on a new 30 day visa exempt entry.
