I was same for a few years pre-COVID. When travel was stopped the admin staff in our office had to start doing it for about 20 of us. Once in person then online.
At the moment no checking of ongoing activity at entry. Will this change in the future - nobody knows. A bit like the Ed visa in a way - they started checking on attendance in some places and some were tested on progress in language at entry. People will just have to deal with the situation when it arises but right now no need to prove ongoing activity at border entry points.
For an extension, they usually ask for an updated employment letter in the workaytion category. If you do a visa run there are currently no checks for ongoing activity.
Anonymous participant 222 If I was a school I would be thinking "How can I have some more revenue? It does not seem fair that I get a one-off 15k fee for 5 years" 🙂
Are they hoping for a never ending supply of students?
Do you think the local embassy or Consulate has time to check everyone's circumstances who would ask? What should the fee be? PS: What is a registered migration agent? Do you know of any?
