I believe, just as it regularly is with traveling internationally, you need at least 6 months of validity on your passport.

Don't think so. Ss long as it is cash and not a brokerage account where you would have to sell stocks, etc you should be good.

This is weird. Especially for the soft power classes like you would do with Discover Thai Nature. From what I understand, you do a year's worth of seminars and that's it. What would they make you do to confirm things for the remaining 4 years?
