Some do I think. The one I saw had proviso of course that all information submitted by the applicant was truthful, accurate and up to date. Ask further questions about immigration history too.

Exactly. They do not have to ask for the full initial application pack. They could ask a couple of things to prove people still qualify for the Visa. 1) Money 2) ongoing activity either workaytion of soft power. It is not all or nothing.
If Embassies are asking then maybe Immigration will ask at entry points. They are the official gatekeepers after all. Easy enough to ask for booked courses and paid invoices?
Well if it looks like a complaint might be forthcoming it would be passed upstairs. The Head of Consular maybe. Ambassadors do not like formal complaints about embassies. DM me if you want to ask how I know :-)
