you are correct.

PatrickVerbruggen you need to get the translation verified at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. If you have any other documents that have your name in Thai on them take these along when you get your marriage certificate translated. This will insure that all your important documents match and there are no descrepancies. In my case there are 4 versions of the name Andrew in Thai script. The official version has changed in the 25 years since we got married. Whenever I have anything translated I make sure they use the version that is on my marriage certificate. Minor point but will save you hassle further down the line.

this is exactly the way to go. Although we'll meaning the other posts about Elite Visa, O-X, O-A and employing lawyers are not the way to go.

@Kata ***
Tod has got it exactly correct.

The only think I would add would be maybe get your boyfriend to go on his own in the first instance. Pre COVID-19 I helped a friend by extending his tourist visa. I was able to do it on his behalf. It might reinforce the fact that you are not fit enough to fly and you are not fit enough to travel to immigration.

Belt and braces is a British term. It means always have a back up. If you always wear a belt and braces your trousers will never fall down.

I also use TransferWise and use the belt and braces method of income and capital. With TransferWise it sometimes arrives in your account as a domestic transfer. It is part of their business model to hold cash in various countries and cut down on their own expenses of international transfers. As a result of this I also print out and submit the TransferWise transaction documentation. When I submitted the paperwork I explained what it was and they were happy. I thought I may need to get it translated into Thai but no need.

thanks for that, I had missed that. It makes sense not to have everyone applying on 25th September,
Andy ********
@Kool ******
when do you think the overstay will be calculated from? Will it be the 26th September or the date of the last stamp in an individuals passport. I can see good arguments to use both.

@Todd ********
the point would be IF you could get a letter from your embassy and immigration would accept it why would you go through the process now. You would surely extend on the 25th September.

is absolutely correct. My wife is diabetic and we moved here to Thailand 4 years ago. We brought 5 months supply of her medication. I did a lot of checking the best option for her to carry on managing her condition.

I checked at pharmacies in Cha Am (where we live), Hua Hin, Bangkok and Pattaya. When it came to price the results were, most expensive first:

1. Private hospitals, by a long way the most expensive option. There was quite a variation between hospitals, even different hospitals in the same chain.

2. Private clinics.

3. Pharmacies, again quite a variation between pharmacies. Pattaya was the cheapest although our local pharmacy in Cha Am offered to do a price match if we bought 3 months supply at a time.

4. Government Hospitals, because of where we live we ended up using Hua Hin Hospital. Cost of medication is 25% less than buying at the cheapest of the pharmacies.
