it is a lot of documentation that you need. But it is better to do it yourself than go through an agent IMHO. If you use an agent you will never be quite sure of the requirements and you will be relying on that agent. I would much rather rely on myself.

how true. I have had problems at Manchester airport in the past. I was returning to Thailand and I had an O-A visa and a 12 month extension stamp and a re-entry permit. Because the original visa was expired and I didn’t have a flight out of Thailand he was going to refuse me travel. I stood my ground and spoke to his superior and after a phone call all was resolved. In this case it was an agent working on behalf of the airline and not the actual airline themselves.

A worrying thing that the check in staff didn’t know basic stamps in a passport.

did not know that. Have you tried the consulate in Penang? A friend of mine got his business visa there, pre covid of course (probably about 3 years ago).

why just not apply for the visa from the country that you are working?

I don't know a way of transferring ftom a non immigrant O-A to an O at the moment if you are not married. The thing is you have a 1 year stamp at the moment. My advice would be to LOOK at options towards the end of 2021.
