Hello, i am in Thailand since November with an O-A visa multiple entry. I have to go back to my country and want to know if I need to go to immigration first to ge a re-entry permit, even if on my visa it’s writing multiple entry. I am confused because I read 2 different information on official Thai government site. At immigration hotline that we call they say don’t need at embassy site they say we need.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Thailand on a multiple-entry O-A visa and seeks clarification on whether a re-entry permit is required before returning to their home country. The comments generally affirm that no re-entry permit is needed due to the visa's multiple-entry status, as long as the user returns before the visa's expiration in November 2021. However, they must adhere to COVID-19 entry requirements when returning.

No Need to go to Immigration office if u intend to stay no more than 3 months, in case if u wish to stay more than 3 months, u must inform the immigration of ur address

Sadly
@Am**
that is NOT correct :( The O/P holds a year-long, multiple re-entry Non-Immigrant Type O-A (Long Stay) visa. That visa allows unlimited entry for the validity (a year from the date it was issued or in the O/P's case from Nov 6, 2020 to Nov 5, 2021) and every entry will get them stamped in for a year from the date they enter (OR as long as their health insurance is good for, up to one year)

As
@Robert *******
has said, when you return (before your visa expires) you will be stamped in for a further twelve months (meeting the COE requirements at the time), and provided your insurance covers the full twelve month period.

The original expiry date stays the same. You will still need to renew your visa before Nov 5, 2021. Then your option to renew with or without multi entry

that’s a bit misleading I think. The original o-a will expire on that date. It’s the date of the entry stamp in the passport that will dictate when an extension is required. Nov 2022 is possible if played right.

David Newhook. He doesn't need to renew before the expiry date. Even if he enters Thailand on Nov 4 2021, he will be stamped in until Nov 3 2022

No reentry permit is needed, you have a multiple entry visa, as long as you are back in Thailand by November 2021, you will get another year upon re entry

I don't know a way of transferring ftom a non immigrant O-A to an O at the moment if you are not married. The thing is you have a 1 year stamp at the moment. My advice would be to LOOK at options towards the end of 2021.

ps if you are in Cha Am it would be great to meet up in person. PM me if you are up for it.

I am I right in assuming that if entered the country, in this scenario, with 9 months remaining on your health insurance then you would get a 9 month stamp?

100% correct
@An**
(y), you will get stamped in for as long as your health insurance (the 40K/400K O-A policy) is valid for up to one year.

No re-entry permit is needed you will automatically be given another year subject to the COVID entry requirements.

Your visa is valid until Nov 2021. You don’t need a reentry permit to leave and come back. You will still need to obtain a certificate of entry and jump through the quarantine hoops on your return.
