At the end of my TR visa application, it's asking me to upload supporting documents, ie flight confirmation, hotel booking confirmation and various other things.

I thought I can do that after I get a visa, not before, It will not allow me to submit my my application without these, is this normal ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement to upload supporting documents such as flight confirmations and hotel bookings before submitting a Thai e-visa application is common, although it varies by embassy. Many applicants reported needing to provide proof of these arrangements even at the application stage. Some suggest taking a screenshot of tentative bookings or using options with flexible cancellation policies. It's advised to check specific requirements at the relevant Thai embassy, as procedures can differ significantly depending on location.

Yup. It’s easy, just screen shot them and it draws them out of your library.

You apply for your visa stage 1.

2 when it is approved and stamped on your passport.

3 go online upload your passport page + visa page + flight + asq hotel + insurance.

4 then your coe is approved to enter Thailand.

You do not have to book flights or asq hotel and insurance for your visa to be approved.

That is ridiculous.

If you are been taken this road.

Book your flight. Asq hotel and insurance when you are ready to travel.

Once you have all 3 booked apply online for a visa excemption and get your COE.

Your country comes under the visa excemption. You don't actually need a visa to travel now.

Im a bit confused myself.

Im mailing my passport and application for a tr visa into LA, fo I need to apply for an E-visa too for the coe?

Do they e mail the coe once they approve the visa, or do I wait to get my passport back first?

This visa process is causing so much issues with people. If I want to come to Thailand I have to fly back to Australia do 2 x weeks quarantine, then apply for a visa (if I’m allowed out). And then do 2 weeks quarantine in Thailand. One I haven’t been back to Australia for over 2 years and I work in the oil and gas industry so it doesn’t make sense to do 4 weeks in a hotel to get 1 to 2 weeks holiday! Hopefully something changes soon.....

@Jason *******
why just not apply for the visa from the country that you are working?

yes I have tried that and the rules are different in every country. Example Malaysia Thailand embassy states you need to be a permanent resident or local to apply. Trust me they make up their own rules in every country.

did not know that. Have you tried the consulate in Penang? A friend of mine got his business visa there, pre covid of course (probably about 3 years ago).

You need those to get visa

It really sucks that you must risk so much money before get the visa. To be unset im sure we can do all the booking on COE stage

it's really not a risk. You know if you qualify for a Visa. If you do, you'll get it. If you're worried, book hotel and flight with generous cancellation or change terms.

Just use screenshot of your proposed booking before paying and it will be accepted at this stage

Yes this is the way I had to do it. Applied from U.S. Thai consulate in Los Angeles Ca

So it seems to depend on the embassy it they'll require the ASQ and flight before issuing the visa or not. As for the online application, if the embassy doesn't require them to be book you still need to upload a screenshot or booking pdf of your anticipated flight and hotel bookings.
