i see all these comments nobody believes you but yes you were right and you sharing your experience quickly saved me a lot of trouble. Thank you so much bro 🙏
for posting this. I read your post as I was getting my papers ready to go the next day. So i printed a few recent bank statements from my bank in the US. When i went to savannakhet they also were only offering single entry to married couples but i asked a few times and the man in the window said i need proof of 400k. I showed my US bank statements and they accepted that and I got the multiple entry today. I did go with me wife too if that makes a difference.
Good hotel near the thai embassy in savannakhet “macchiato resort” , right across the street. On all the travel websites its like 2800 baht but i walked up in person yesterday and they told me 1000 a night
You could find the apartment on airbnb and rent it for a night then leave the worst reviews ever and have 2 or 3 more people rent it and leave awful reviews (giant rats, roaches and bed bugs on the bed, you threw a party and the cops came and beat and arrested your guests, immigration came and interrogated you for hours about your visa status… you get the idea) that will discourage people from renting there
The legalization takes 2 or 3 days and when you go back they will always tell you there was some error in the translation you have to redo. So that will take you another day to fix. They told me I have to redo the translation over some punctuation mark and some random word. Your translator should do the revisions for free but you would have to pay the delivery to send you the new papers. I paid 800 for the translations and like 600 for the legalization stamps. The actual marriage registration was free but I paid them like 150 for plastic folders to put the papers in. Make sure if you need an appointment or not at the government office where you plan to register the marriage. In bangkok the one near me had a 3 month waiting list but out in the village where we went we just called a few days in advance and it was fine. An agent might charge you 20-30,000 for this. As long as you know to plan in advance you can do it yourself for way cheaper.
After you get your letters from your embassy (1.affadavit saying you are eligible to get married 2. Certified passport copies) and have them translated this is an important step no one ever mentions. You have to get them legalized by the thai ministry of foreign affairs. What no one mentions is you need an appointment for this and you may have to wait 3 weeks to a month in advance. So make an appointment as soon as you can. I would suggest get the translations done the same day after you get your embassy papers and schedule the the legalization for a day or two after. This is the website
good idea! Do you know if the single non O is available from the evisa site or thats something we have to apply in person? ……Im also thinking about getting a 60 day marriage extension on this stamp although I probably don’t actually need more than an extra two or three weeks this trip.
