thanks for this info! Sorry if i ask too much like a noob. Usually most questions and answers online are about the one year stay with proof of funds so thats the topic i find most when i search… questions for you (or whoever knows) besides savannakhet is this available at other nearby embassies. For example Vietnam or China? (as I go to these two countries regularly. I have never been to Laos)

thank you! Tell me more about this. This visa is valid for how long and how many days each entry? What is the fee to apply? Thanks!

I had a similar problem and stopped using them because of that. Now i use the “moneygram” app. It gives me a better exchange rate, but kind of slow. Sometimes you will get your money in a day or two sometimes it takes 5 or 6 business days so if there is a holiday in the week it might drag on

Give the “moneygram” app a try. I used to use wise but it started giving me issues and transfers getting cancelled after waiting for days so i started using moneygram. Moneygram sometimes is slow it might take a week sometimes it takes 2 days to get your money. But in general it gave me a much better exchange than wise. (From USD to baht).

You have to file an FBAR every year that you have a bank account abroad with the equivalent of $10,000 or more. If you don’t the IRS can fine you $10,000 if it was unintentional or they can fine you $100,000 or 50% of your money whichever is greater if they think you intentionally didn’t file it. Pretty scary stuff but its easy to fix. Most accountants will charge you $50-$100 to do this. Or You can find the link on the IRS website or google it and file it yourself. Its actually super easy it took me like 5 or 10 minutes to do it myself. Same deadlines as taxes. If you make interest on your bank account abroad you are supposed to add that to your taxable income or wherever it asks when you file taxes. Filing taxes abroad is kind of confusing. If its your first time its better to just let an accountant do it (probably $300-$500 fee) and maybe the next year you can take those forms as an example and do it yourself if you want to save money.
